Royal Palm Bug Infestation and Treatment

Due to an infestation of royal palm bug in the Estate section of Siena Oaks, the Board of Directors has engaged Leaderscape Commercial Landscape Maintenance to treat all front yard royal palm trees with a systemic pest control treatment. Leaderscape will begin treating the palms on Thursday, July 19th.

Homeowners with royal palm trees in their back yard may have trees reviewed by Leaderscape for infestation and treated at a cost of $28.00 per tree. Leaderscape will treat back yard trees on Friday, July 20th.

You may schedule your service by emailing manager@sienaoakshoa.com. Payment must be left with the Siena Oaks office in advance, during regular office hours, or provided to Leaderscape representatives at the time of service. Checks should be made payable to Leaderscape.

If you have questions regarding royal palm bug, please visit the University of Florida Extension Service Website at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/in254.

Summary of our Landscaping Contract

Att. Siena Oaks Homeowners:

Our landscaper, Leaderscape of Deerfield Beach, is contracted to perform specific duties on front and backyards. Homeowners are responsible for anything additional.

Leaderscape’s current contract calls for them to:

  • Cut lawns weekly April 1-Nov. 15 and two times a month from Nov. 16-March 31.
  • During winter months when leaves are more prevalent, additional time will be spent on clean-up and removal during detail/trim days.
  • Edge along streets, beds and walkways with each cut, and keep grass and dirt clear of street edges.
  • Trim hedges and shrubs up to 8 feet high once per month.
  • Weed flower beds once monthly—with hand-weeding where necessary so as not to harm certain plants and flowers that may be affected by a chemical weed killer.
  • Trim low palm branches up to 14 feet and lower tree branches up to 8 feet to maintain clearance for pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This does not replace the need for yearly tree maintenance!
  • Manage pest control 12 times per year, with only infested areas treated as needed. Please note that treatment for whitefly and spiraling whitefly is not included!
  • Fertilize turf three times a year with top-grade 16-4-8 or seasonal equivalent with 25% or 50% slow release Nitrogen, depending on season. One turf fertilization will be a weed and feed, applied in the spring. Fertilize all palms, shrubs, hedges and ground covers three times per year using granular 13-3-13, or equivalent.
  • Leaderscape is responsible for all damages to the sprinkler system due to their work, provided that the sprinkler system is properly installed.

The Board may alter this schedule in the wake of hurricanes or unusual circumstances. Please notify the HOA manager at manager@sienaoakshoa.com if Leaderscape misses any covered services.

Homeowners must insure that their sprinklers are in working order, and that vegetation is properly watered. The University of Florida IFAS Extension Office suggests that you water in the early morning or late evening.

Sincerely

The Board of Directors

Precinct Results From 3/14 Election

The March 14 municipal elections in Palm Beach Gardens yielded a pair of winners – Dr. Mark Marciano in Group 1 and Matthew Lane in Group 3. No candidate got a majority in the four way race in Group 5, so Rachelle Litt and Joe Russo will meet in a runoff on 3/28.

Good turnout for PBG Election

Congratulations to the winner in Group 1, Dr. Mark Marciano, who dominated the race with 66% of the vote over challenger Michael Paolercio, and in Group 3 to Matthew Lane who topped 50% in a three way race by 13 votes to avoid a runoff. The Group 5 race moves to a runoff between Rachelle Litt and Joe Russo who captured 37% and 34% respectively in the 4 way race.
